Airgas Refrigerants Products to Display Required GHS Labeling

July 7, 2015

The Global Harmonized System Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) is a United Nations accord that is currently being implemented. In the United States, The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, (OSHA) Hazard Communication Standard published in April, 2012 is the regulating guidance source. Changes to classification and labels on hazardous materials are ongoing and Airgas Refrigerants is in compliance with the new Hazard Communication Standard.

In the workplace, the new Hazard Communication Standard has required companies to conduct recognition training, revise SDSs and revise labels. Between June 2015 and December 2015, all existing OSHA labels for chemical products classified as hazardous will be replaced with new labels that contain graphical elements, pictograms, a signal word, hazard statement(s) and precautionary statements. This GHS label is consistent with information presented in the SDS sheets.

Airgas Refrigerants is working to ensure we are in full compliance with all dates regarding workplace training, SDS updating and labelling for transportation and workplace use. Read more about the GHS program here.
